Why does color blindness occur mainly in men?

The most common cause of colorblindness is the result of a faulty allele on the X chromosome. Since men have only one X chromosome, they are more likely to show the phenotype; there is no "normal" allele on another X chromosome to "hide" it they way there usually is in women.
