Why should liberals have a say in the military if the military is less than 7% liberal?

In a recent poll, the result was that the military is 90% conservative and less than 7% liberal with a 3% being Independent. So why should liberals have a say in the Iraq War, which is something they have almost no part in and will mess up anyway as they want to pull out as fast as they can as the terrorists overthrow the government?
