How can we encourage better answers? Too many people use brief, unintelligent answers to get quick points.?

Hehe, that’s an interesting thought. I guess the whole point of this community is to get a wide range of answers on things which we might not otherwise be able to understand etc. I tend to leave longer answers because I get carried away; however I have had some very helpful one answer questions. To penalise those who give brief answers might discourage them and then everyone would miss out on something that could be very useful. I did like your idea of awarding the best 10% of answers. I sometimes find it very quite unfair to only choose one answer when many help me so that’s a good plan. Anyway, just so you know, this answer is 130 words long, so I think I should get best answer. Hehe!
